Is there an estimate on when this will be released?

It will likely be a month or two to get a new release of HSDS and h5pyd that uses the h5json package, and then further updates to optimize performance.

If you are curious to see the current state, this branch of hdf5-json: GitHub - HDFGroup/hdf5-json at abstract, has the basic hdfdb class implemented and reader/writers for h5py and hdf5-json.

This is such a large change to HSDS and h5pyd, it would be great to have interested parties try it out before the formal release. I’ll post in the HSDS forum when there is some code that is ready for tire-kicking.
