The HDF Group’s Director of Engineering Dana Robinson will be speaking at NOBUGS 2024. Dana will speak on Crashproofing the HDF5 library. In this presentation, Dana will review several approaches to crashproofing the HDF5 library. We describe an implementation based on a Write-Ahead Log (WAL) for metadata within the HDF5 library. In the event of a crash during the lifetime of an application using HDF5, this WAL can be used by the library or an external tool to restore the metadata within an HDF5 file to a self-consistent state, preventing file corruption and limiting the loss of application data with minimal I/O and memory overhead.
Dana’s talk is scheduled for September 24th at 5:00 p.m. Paris time. For more info, see the conference schedule.
NOBUGS 2024 is a hybrid event, and you can still register to attend remotely.
Feel free to reach out to Dana (@derobins) if you’ll be there in person and would like to schedule a time to chat.
