The subversion repo at [1] hasn't been updated ever since last August, cf.

$ svn up

Is there a new repo perhaps? I haven't found this information online.

Hi Nico,
The HDF software repository moved from SVN to Git. For the current
location of the software see:
https://bitbucket.hdfgroup.org/projects
You can download the HDF5 development software by specifying:
git clone https://bitbucket.hdfgroup.org/scm/hdffv/hdf5.git
Please note that the built autotools files are not included in the
development branch of the software. If you have autotools on your machine
you can run "autogen.sh" in the top directory of the HDF5 source code to
install the required files.
