which indicated that a FastBit-based query system was being added to
HDF5. Do you know the status of this project? Is there a future HDF5
version targeted to include this feature?
In the Python world we have the excellent PyTables system for fast
querying of 1D HDF5 datasets of compound-type. I'm curious if the
FastQuery project has similar aims and if/when it will be available.
Presumably it will be part of the HDF5 C API?
This is not directly an answer to your question, but I've used HDF5 Fastbit in
the past. By that time it was C++ Code and had portability issues to get it
running under Windows, so I stopped using it. I haven't had contact with the
developers since then. But yes, it would be a highly interesting technology.

Hi Andrew,
We're working with the FastBit/FastQuery team on a joint project and are planning to extend the HDF5 API to include additions for indexing. However, this is still part of our future work, so I don't have a firm plan for this currently.
