We are excited to announce a Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) session at SC25 titled “HDF5: Shaping the Next Generation of Data Tools.” This is a fantastic opportunity for HDF5 users and developers to connect, share insights, and help guide the future of this essential data management tool.
About the BoF
HDF5 has been a cornerstone of HPC I/O for over 25 years, and it continues to evolve to meet the challenges of modern computing, including the rise of AI and machine learning workloads. This session will bring together community experts to discuss best practices and showcase exciting new features designed for today’s complex data environments.
We will begin with a panel discussion featuring experts who will highlight forthcoming, new, and established HDF5 features that represent best practices for data management. We’ll be covering topics like:
- The HDF5 roadmap
- Feature improvements
- GPU-native I/O
- Data integrity, privacy, and security
- New data models
- Real-world use cases
Following the panel, the floor will be open to all attendees to share their experiences, challenges, and ideas. Your feedback is crucial and will play a direct role in shaping future HDF5 developments.
We Need Panelists!
We are looking for passionate and knowledgeable individuals from the HDF5 community to join our panel. If you are a developer, researcher, or user with an interesting use case, a unique perspective on HDF5, or expertise in a specific area (like GPU I/O, security, or performance optimization), we would love to have you on our panel.
This is a great opportunity to share your work, contribute to the community, and help advance HDF5 for everyone.
If you are interested in being a panelist, please contact Director of Engineering Scot Breitenfeld at brtnfld -at- hdfgroup.org.
We look forward to seeing you at SC25 and having a productive discussion!
