RFC: HDF5 Dropping Support for Non-Fortran 2003 Standard Compliant Compilers

Hi,

Attached is a proposal to drop support for non-Fortran 2003 standard compliant compilers for the next major release of HDF5 early next year. If you use the Fortran HDF5 library then this will be of great interest to you. If you would like to test if your current compiler meets the Fortran 2003 needs of the HDF5 library (as discussed in the RFC) then you can try to compile the current version of HDF5 using “—enable-fortran —enable-fortran2003" configure options. We would like to hear any comments or concerns about these proposed changes that you may have.

Thanks,
Scot
