Release of HDFView 3.4.1 (Newsletter #208)

The HDFView 3.4.1 release is now available from the HDFView download page.

With this new maintenance release, HDFView now has the following new features:

  • Added comprehensive support for operating with float16 datatypes
  • New user option for editing the plugin path and managing plugins
  • The build system has been converted to Maven
  • A bug fix to end crashes on NETCDF-4 grids
HDFView 3.4.1 was
  • built and tested with HDF 4.3.1 and HDF5 2.0.0,
  • built and tested with OpenJDK 21,
  • uses Java modules for improved modularity, and
  • utilizes newest jpackage for distribution.
Matt Larson (@mlarson) will be taking over as chief product owner/developer of HDFView following Allen Byrne’s retirement at the end of last year.
