Chandrasekhar, there are several viewers for HDF[4,5] and NetCDF available in the community and from third parties. If your question is about HDFView, then the answer would be Java, and the source code can be obtained from https://bitbucket.hdfgroup.org/projects/HDFVIEW/repos/hdfview/browse
