Previewing new features for the next HSDS/h5pyd release - John Readey on Call the Doctor 2/10/26
Major changes are in the works for HSDS (HDF Scalable Data Service) and h5pyd (Python client library for HSDS). In this week’s Call the Doctor, John Readey will provide a status update and review some of the planned improvements:
- Code shared between HSDS and h5pyd will be consolidated in the hdf5-json package
- Major speed improvements for metadata operations (group/dataset creation, link and attribute functions)
- Consolidated meta data feature improves read performance
- Multi-threading support for reading and writing datasets
The new release won’t be completely backwards compatible with the older versions of HSDS and h5pyd, but John will describe what you need to know to be ready for the new versions.
