Newbie compile question.

Hi,
I am a first time prospective user of HDF5.
I intend to use it with a couple of compilers,
i.e. MSVC, MINGW.

So I tried to get a head start by trying to
compile the library with VS 2005.

I carefully followed the instructions, also
installed the compression libs and failed
during the build all step.

Point 4. Select "Build", then Select "Configuration Manager".
of INSTALL_Windows_Short_VS2005.TXT

I get the error message:

29>c1 : fatal error C1083: Datei (Quelle) kann nicht geffnet werden: "..\..\..\test\gen_bogus.c": No such file or directory
29>Das Buildprotokoll wurde unter "file://c:\projects\hdf5\hdf5-1.8.0\test\ohdr_gentst\Debug\BuildLog.htm" gespeichert.
29>ohdr_gentst - 1 Fehler, 0 Warnung(en)

What shall I do about this error?

Thank you for your attention.

I tried to ignore the error and continued with the hdf4check.bat script and got the
following output that can be seen in the attachement.

Is this a consequence of the first error?
What can I do to correct for this error? Does this mean the built libraries will be
unusable?

Hi Roland,

You mentioned in another message that you had made some progress in building and testing HDF5. I was wondering if you are still encountering the problems mentioned here. Specifically,

-- Are you able to build the ohdr_gentst project, or do you still get errors about gen_bogus.c? If this is still an issue, verify that your source directory structure is setup exactly as it is in the source package. If you've made modifications, you will need to update the path to source files.
-- Do you still get failed marks from the "testerror.bat" script? This looks like potential differences between formatting between German and English languages. If you still get errors here, I can look into it and see exactly what's going wrong.

The file gen_bugus.c is missing.
A search over the entire tree did not give a result.

For now I am just ignoring this error.

You can ignore that error safely.
Check the Windows FAQ site which talks about it, here:
