Hi Andrea,
I moved all of the 1.8 releases to hdf5-1.8/ and set up symbolic links to them in the releases/ directory, as you describe.
It will make it easy to just remove the links in the future.
Thanks!

Hi Barbara,
it’s just an unexpected change. Happy to have a releases/hdf5-1.8/ but that should then have all the 1.8 releases.
Could you do the following?
1) move all the 1.8 releases to releases/hdf5-1.8/ now
2) link back the folders releases/hdf5-1.8/hdf5-1.8.{0..17} to releases/ to current links don’t get broken.
Then you can remove the links releases/hdf5-1.8.{0..17} after an appropriate deprecation warning.
You could just make the symbolic links the other way around (linking releases/hdf5-1.8/hdf5-1.8.{0..17} to releases/hdf5-1.8.{0..17}) but you will need to move the folders eventually so better to do it earlier.
Either choice take less than 5 minutes.
All I care about is a simple logic for our continuous integration script to predict where the release tar balls are going to be.
Cheers,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
The ./releases/hdf5-1.8/hdf5-1.8.18/ directory is the correct location of the HDF5-1.8.18 software.
There were starting to be a lot of files in the releases/ directory, so this was done to keep things manageable.
The other 1.8 releases will be moved (slowly) into the hdf5-1.8/ location. (Similarly, HDF5-1.10 releases are found
in the ./releases/hdf5-1.10/ directory.)
Sorry for causing problems!!

Hello,
h5py build script failed [1] when we upgrade to 1.8.18 because the source tarball is not where expected
there’s https://support.hdfgroup.org/ftp/HDF5/releases/hdf5-1.8.17/src/hdf5-1.8.17.tar.gz
but no https://support.hdfgroup.org/ftp/HDF5/releases/hdf5-1.8.18/src/hdf5-1.8.18.tar.gz
I noticed the following file exists though, maybe it’s misplaced? there’s an extra /hdf5-1.8/
https://support.hdfgroup.org/ftp/HDF5/releases/hdf5-1.8/hdf5-1.8.18/src/hdf5-1.8.18.tar.gz
