While there is great content all day, we recognize the schedule doesn’t work for every time zone. We wanted to draw attention to these community events that are as schedule-friendly as we could get. While the first session in this list is The HDF Group sharing information, the other sessions have a focus on encouraging discussion and learning from the community.
(Note: These times may change slightly, keep an eye on the timetable for final times.)

HDF5 Viewer Roundtable (Facilitated by John Readey)
Tuesday 27-May 2:25 pm Hamburg / 5:25 am PDT / 6:25 am MDT / 7:25 am CDT / 8:25 am EDT
A very common need when presented with an HDF5 file (especially for non-programmers or those new to HDF5), is some way to “see” the contents. Happily, there are a variety of viewers for HDF5 data sources available: HDFView, H5Web (myhdf5), silx,HDF Compass, etc. However, it’s not obvious how these compare or when one or another might be preferable for a particular application. In this session, we’ll have a short review of HDFView, H5Web, Silx, and HDF Compass, covering their history, features, intended use, and future roadmap. We will conclude with an open discussion of what future steps would best serve the needs of the HDF5 community.

HDF5 Roundtable (Facilitated by Scot Breitenfeld)
Monday 26-May 3:50 pm Hamburg / 6:50 am PDT / 7:50 am MDT / 8:50 am CDT / 9:50 am EDT
Tuesday 27-May 3:35 pm Hamburg / 6:35 am PDT / 7:35 am MDT / 8:35 am CDT / 9:35 am EDT
The HDF5 Roundtable is an open, interactive forum hosted by The HDF Group during HUG events, designed to bring together users, developers, and stakeholders from the HDF5 community. This session provides a space for sharing insights, discussing current challenges, and exploring the future direction of HDF5. Whether you’re a new user or a longtime contributor, the Roundtable is a collaborative opportunity to ask questions, offer feedback, and help shape the evolution of the HDF5 ecosystem.
As always, barring unforeseen technical difficulties, all sessions will be recorded and posted on our youtube channel but we’d love to have your in-person contributions to these discussions…
