HDFView 2.7 on OS X 10.6.7 gives error on file load

I have created an "Unsupported File format" when I try to load any hdf5 file using the HDFView version 2.7 (64 bit) for OS X. I have tried my own files along with files from the HDF5 code base. None seem to work. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I need to do first? Library paths? It seems like it should "just work".

Thanks for any help

try "/usr/bin/java -version" to see what version of JVM you have.
If you are using 64-bit hdfview, you have to use 64-bit JVM.

Thanks

You have the correct JVM.

Very strange. The only problem (two instances) reported for 64-bit Mac
is the mismatched JVM.

Could you try the batch file ($HDFVIEW_HOME/hdfview.command)?

Thanks

Nope that didn't work either. If I go to the "Help" menu neither the HDF4 of HDF5 libraries are enabled. Is it even loading the HDF5 libraries? Which are included with this product I am assuming.

Hi Peter:

Have you tested it on 10.6.7? That just came out. I haven't updated yet, but perhaps something gets broken in the update?

I have a server that has 10.6.7 server. I just downloaded the latest 64-bit version of HDFView for Intel Mac to it, and it worked fine on the samples. Perhaps the person should try an re-install of HDFView.

Mike,

The gray icons mean that the libraries do not work on your machine. I just upgraded
my machine to 10.7.0. HDFView works fine. Roy tested HDFView on 10.6.7. It seems that
the problem is not in the version of the OS. Could you download and reinstall HDFView?
