Is there any on-going testing of the latest HDF5 version (both 1.8.12 and the upcoming 1.8.14) on OS X 10.10 Yosemite? I know the new release is coming up and I wanted to make sure any bugs might be able to be handled when 1.8.14 is released?
I realize 10.10 has only been out for a few days now but I figured I would start the conversation now rather than _after_ 1.8.14 has been released.
I could setup a dashboard, but since no one seems to be doing anything to make the existing dashboards greener, I have not bothered.
Do the folks at HDF Group look at the dashboards? Do you want a 10.10 dashboard?
Cheers,

Not supporting it and not compiling are 2 different things in my mind. I just need to know if it is not compiling for some reason. I have new developers who are going to get new Macs which dictates they will get OS X 10.10. If HDF5 does not compile then I am need to come up with Plan B.

but why don't you install 10.10 in a VM or partition and try it. Easy, no?

Mike,
Just for you I've done a build and submitted it to the dashboard:

It builds and passes tests using the autotools on Yosemite. I seriously doubt that CMake will make much of a difference.
My Mac does not have Fortran, so I did not test that.

Yep,
Downloading 10.10 now..
Thanks for the quick dashboard. Looks like it will be solid to go..

As a side note: even if you don't have a particular version of Mac OS
X installed, searching MacPorts tickets should give you an idea of
whether a program or a library works on Mac OS X. There is exactly one
open MacPorts ticket for the hdf5 port and it is not related to
Yosemite.
We don’t have Yosemite system installed yet. So, don’t know if it will compile or not.
From past experience, it is likely to compile and pass all tests. One may need to adjust
the optimization level. (For example, -O3 may have some glitches while -O0 works.)
BTW, the previous optimization issues do not apply to the latest version of clang compilers
for 10.8 and 10.9 systems.

But if it's ignored, and none of the issues on there get fixed, people understandably loose motivation to contribute.

Folks in OpenMPI and MPICH land have been having problems with libtool. It parses "10.10" as the much older "10.1" and uses some decade-old workaround that in 2014 is not good:

Sorry I did not read your post before. I checked that our version of libtool has the same bug in it.
I will watch this one out when I get my hands on a 10.10 system.
Thanks.
