Future Changes to Supported Compilers
-------------------------------------

Please be aware of the following changes to future releases of HDF4:

o The HDF4 C library will be upgraded to the C99 standard.

o The HDF4 Fortran library will only be tested and supported
      with Fortran 90 compilers.

We strongly encourage you to upgrade if you are using HDF4 with a
pre-C99 C compiler or a Fortran compiler prior to Fortran 90.
