We are currently repackaging our HDF Java products, where the native code libraries will be distributed with the HDF5 and HDF4 releases, as is currently done for Fortran and C++ wrappers, rather than as a part of a standalone HDF-Java/HDFView release. This impacts our daily regression testing in that we want to make sure to test at least the most common configurations used by HDF Java programmers.
Our current plans for call for dropping testing of 32-bit Java applications running on 64-bit systems. If you find it essential for your Java applications to be built as 32-bit applications that run on 64-bit systems, please let us know more about your requirements-operating system(s) and version, etc.
We will continue to test HDF-Java as both 32- and 64-bit builds on corresponding systems.

Joel,
I work on maintaining a 32 bit Java application that runs on 64 bit windows PCs. I use the Java Object API for reading HDF5 files.
