H5Oexists_by_name_f

Hello,

I just read on error handling and object discovery in HDF5. I came
across H5Oexists_by_name and at first was surprised that it isn't
available for Fortran. Then I found out it was added only recently in
1.8.5. I guess that it hasn't been added because it isn't a high
priority, or are there other reasons?

Best,
Maik

PS: If there is no technical reason against it, then I'll look into
creating patch.

We simply didn't have resources to implement all H5O functions in Fortran.
There will be new high-level C function H5LTpath_valid (and its Fortran counterpart) in 1.8.9 coming in May that will have similar but more flexible functionality.

If you have time to create a wrapper for H5Oexists_by_name following one of the H5O fortran functions and tests, we will be more than happy to consider it.
