Append binary data in existing binary format dataset

Hi,

I have created an dataset with binay format as actual data contains string and character.

I need to append this dataset using with the same format of data.

How to append such binary kind of dataset, Is there any provision to save string/character kind of data in dataset and append it again.

It is not clear what you are asking. Are you using compound datatype to create the dataset? May be some of the examples posted here will help? See https://portal.hdfgroup.org/display/HDF5/Examples+by+API
