Use of HDF5 1.6

Hi all,

I'm the lead developer of the h5py ("HDF5 for Python") project. We're
in the midst of a refactoring effort to make the code base more
maintainable and robust (and to properly support some of the changes
introduced in HDF5 1.8.5+). One thing I'm interested in finding out
is how many people in the community still rely on HDF5 1.6.X. It's my
understanding that THG is no longer developing (or even patching) the
1.6.X series, which is worrisome at least from a security perspective.
I would be very interested to hear from anyone who uses/prefers/is
stuck with 1.6, and why.

Thanks!
Andrew Collette

Andrew,

Based on our ftp traffic log, there are about 180 downloads/each month for
hdf5 1.6 for the last 12 months.

Thanks
