Hi all,
Ideally HDF5 should be language dependent. The choice to use HDF5 should not be determined by requirements to use a specific programming language. Unfortunately, some high level languages (HLL) such as Python, Ruby, and Perl are not supported to the same degree as C and Fortran. The HDF Group would like to understand the needs of HDF5 users for HLL access, to evaluate the demand for HLL support, and to gather your ideas about how to go about adding HLL support.
So we would like to host a wiki discussion site for people who are interested in this topic to share their ideas and thoughts. Ultimately, we plan to publish a report on the results of the discussion on the wiki site. The HDF Group will continue coordinating or pursuing the follow-up work.

Some discussions have already been put on the wiki. The current wiki site needs a password to post articles.
