Hello,
I am getting the following error when compiling hdf5 (hdf5-1.8.5.tar)
downloaded today.
tselect.c:1556: warning: will never be executed
virtual memory exhausted: Cannot allocate memory
make[1]: *** [tselect.o] Error 1
I am compiling on a Suse 11.1 intel 64 bit machine with 4 GB of ram.
gcc (SUSE Linux) 4.3.2 [gcc-4_3-branch revision 141291]
The compiler gives up after taking about 10 GB of virtual ram.
Does it really take that big of a machine to compile hdf5?
Any suggestions on how to get this to compile?
Thanks,
Jeff
Seems like a bug in gcc.
We found the same problem with gcc 4.4.0, but when we upgraded to 4.4.1, then problem went away.
