Abe Taaheri is the author of the plugin. He can help you better on getting the
plugin work and showing HDF-EOS objects in HDFView. Click the "Contact Us"
link in the page I sent to you.
Thanks

Dear HDF Group users,
The data(HDF4 files) I am downloading from NASA EOS programme is
imported to HDF Viewer and its only a grid data not Images. How
to parse these data to actual values?
I believe they are in binery form but not actual values of the
scientific data.
Can anybody please help me in converting these numbers to actual
data values?
Thanks and Regards
Mahesh
Thanks peter,
Yes, this idea clicked to enable both HDF4 and HDF5 buttons
near help tool of the application.
I could able to access HDF files downloded from NASA website.
I can read the data with available files which are all HDF4
files.

mahesh
Since both "h4" and "h5" button are disabled, I am pretty
sure that the
problem is not your file. It is a Windows XP related issue.
Our HDF5 library and Java JNI is built with .NET. Your XP
machine may not
have the required .NET component. This is a known
problem. Please see
the page below for the solution.
In metadata of the data grid file converting these binery forms is given
like below
can anybody confirm whthere I can use this scaling equation for converting
data?
l3m_data~copy~copy (720, 94)
16-bit unsigned integer, 481 x 481
Number of attributes = 5
Fill = 65535
Scaling = linear
Scaling Equation = (Slope*l3m_data) + Intercept = Parameter value
Slope = 7.17185E-4
Intercept = -2.0
Thanks in Advance
Mahesh
This appears to be level-3 mapped data. We get similar looking data from
<oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov> and in that case the scaling works, but without
a proper provenance there are no guarantees. The attribute data should include
a "Title" string like "HMODISA Level-3 Standard Mapped Image". I often use
"ncdump -h" (with ncdump from hdf4, not from netcdf!), but the same information
is available in hdfview.

Can anybody know about the script or code to run for converting SDS values
right from hdf files to actual attribute values?
I have downloaded Sea Surface Temperature(SST) data (from http://neo.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov ) in hdf form but they are in SDS values which
i need to convert them to actual SST Values.
I tried to install HDF View plug in as suggested by Peter Cao but failed and
I am in contact with Plugin technical support team. They also mentioned that
plugin will reveal the coordinates for SDS values in HDF files but not
actual attribute values and they also suggested to write a script to run for
conversion.
Your valuable information about this will help me in representing SST values
for regional seas.
Thanks in advance
Mahesh
