Correction for "Introduction to HDF5"

In “Introduction to HDF5” is the sentence:

"Compact storage is used when the amount of data is small and can

be stored directly in the object header. (Note: Compact storage is not
supported in this release.)"

The note “Compact storage is not supported in this release” is out of
date I believe? Looking at the latest version of the official HDF5 C
library, the code seems to use compact storage in some places?

Thankful for any clarifications on this.

Cheers,
Elvis

Elvis,

Thank you for reporting.

Introduction document is outdated and we need to fix it.

You are absolutely correct. We do have compact storage implemented and if was done 15 years ago?
